From HR to HX #3: People-Centered Leadership in Times of Polycrisis and Labor Shortages

What makes someone a people-centered leader? In this episode, Sven Hogervorst and Damian Weijermans set out to find the answer to that question. Because although leadership is perhaps the most researched topic within organizations, people-centered leadership turns out to be surprisingly difficult to define. We discuss why leaders play a crucial role in the Human Experience, why middle management in particular is under increasing pressure, and how leaders can contribute to human flourishing without losing sight of the business side of things. Drawing on insights from scientific research, we explore authentic leadership, servant leadership, transformational leadership, and the balance between humanity and business. Because people-centered leadership isn’t about being “soft” or avoiding difficult conversations. It’s about creating conditions in which people can function at their best. An episode about attention, responsibility, connection, and the question of how to handle difficult situations in a humane way.
