The Change Dojo S1#4: Embodiment – Proprioception Explained

🎙️Embodiment is about the interaction between me, the other person, and the physical space. In this episode, the focus is on physical space. After all, this space is never neutral. The chair you’re sitting on, the distance to the other person, the light in the room—everything influences how we feel, connect, and perform.

Together with Mart Huizenga and Rutger Wolters from The Change Dojo, we’ll be discussing proprioception: the ability to sense where you are in space, in relation to others and your surroundings. We’ll explore how physical spaces influence behavior, reinforce culture, or—conversely—hinder it, and why HR can learn a lot from environmental managers in the public sector.

From coffee machines to round tables, from dojos to office environments: what functions does the physical space serve, what behaviors does it encourage, and what meaning is derived from it?
