In this episode of our five-part series on Elemental Leadership, we’ll explore the Wood element together with Fenneke van Vliet of Yinner Works. This element is associated with spring, the season of growth, creativity, and movement. We’ll examine how Wood manifests itself in projects and change initiatives. Why do some teams burst with ideas but lack focus? Why do other projects get bogged down in planning and discussions? And what happens when there’s energy but not enough direction? Using relatable examples, we explore how the five elements manifest within projects, teams, and organizations. We’ll discuss frustration as a signal, the concept of “kill your darlings,” the importance of experimentation, and why Wood sometimes needs to be cut down—both literally and figuratively—in order to truly flourish. We’ll also do a short exercise focused on movement and direction, allowing you to experience for yourself what Wood does for you.
